Ian Wood is an automotive photographer based in Los Angeles. Born with a passion for cars, whether it started from the footwell cot seating in a Shelby GT350 Mustang, or perched on the transmission tunnel in a Jaguar E-Type as an infant is unknown. Moving to Los Angeles in 2014 only intensified this interest, especially once he added the photography part.
The many car events attended in those first 5 years created a network of contacts that launched his signature Naked Color series in 2020, which has continued to be developed and refined since.
His work has been published in print and digital, including Retromotive, Avant and Petrolicious publications, and for the Petersen, Mullin, Marconi, Tuscon, and Zimmerman Automotive museums.
The Naked Color series strips the car of context, environment and reflections. The directional light shapes the form as the creator might have imagined it. The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette care of Jonathan Segal, photographed 2020 by Ian Wood, EANOFOTO
