The Artist
Rosi Feist
Born in 1981 in Dresden, I grew up near the former border of West Germany and the Czech Republic. I studied Media Art & Design at Bauhaus University Weimar, where I developed most of my projects under the guidance of Prof. Christine Hill. Much of my work is inspired by photographs taken by my wife during travels across the U.S. — images of abandoned motels, desert plants, and overlooked roadside scenes. I’m drawn to the trivial and the everyday, finding inspiration in a garden chair or a rubbish bin. My artistic process is about reduction. I simplify compositions into clean forms, often using soft pastel tones layered with textured or unusual papers. The result is a form of minimalist pop art that captures the quiet nostalgia and subtle beauty of ordinary life.
